Denim Blue is a color group that has been with me for about 10 years. It is based on a semi-matte glaze with a small amount of cobalt blue as the primary colorant. It is rather variable and will yield a range of blue tones.

I fire my kiln to 2400 deg F and this glaze seems to be right on the edge of a transformation at this temperature because it is very sensitive to placement in relatively warm or cool spots in the kiln. I like it best when it grows tiny crystals on the surface resulting in a varied frostiness.

Below is a handbuilt serving dish that shows a good example of streaking from the micro-crystal formation.
